SACRIFICE
It was the time of the year again where beetles & cats sacrificed a dear pet bunny to appease the nutty ravens.
PS: A biologist working with this town´s museum recently told me he wished illustrators would finally understand only rabbits and bunnies build burrows - and never hares. I am passing that piece of information on. Never put long-legged hares into fancy burrow buildings! That is biologically incorrect!
PSS: (he was a bit nutty himself)

ME-LOVE-ILLUSTRATION.
PS: Also NEVER shave clean a mommy rabbit.
she uses hair from her own body, aong with grass blah blah to cover her little bunnies...warmth and from enemies.
i clicked her after you left a lovely comment in my blog.... great illustration! love it!....goats btw...are a pain in the proverbial....well this goat is....knocks bits off cars... chases visitors and eats anything you hold dear ...especially roses....cheers!
Lol, thanks for the FYI on Hares vs. Bunnies.
Great take on sacrifice!
a.
Thanks Claudine, the biologist would be happy to know I "rescued" one :)
Scarecrow, their right is granted, they just don´t use it! I believe the biologist came across too many a children´s book that shows hares living in burrows. You would have loved his lecture, I am sure! He even brought along a slideshow of burrows and other animal households.
Greetings!
Ces, hello! I find you of good taste, hihi! ;) Thank you for your sweet comment, I wish people in real life would think that, too!
Fiesto, I believe you have a graffiti soul :)
Aliie, I knew it! To the bathroom you only take your comic books and that´s it! PS: Wow, I never seem to stop learning new things about bunnies.
Lea, I heard that about goats before so I don´t know why I remain so stubborn about owning one. Perhaps because they are so freakin´funny! Plus I like goat cheese :)
Andrea, they don´t call me the educator for no reason ;)
haha! i love it!

Love this illo...so if Hares don't live in burrows where do they live? Hollowed out trees? High rises?
Hmmm, yes, High rises...I like that.
Fantastic illo!!
I enjoy your post, full of humour as usual...;)tnx for your biological tips
and tnx for your comment:women are always wiser!
Wow! Great image!
Funny and very imaginative, and love all the info on bunnies and hares, lots of fun. Wonderful artwork and unique take on the theme for sure!
hee hee, that's very funny. thanks for the info about the hares.
another first-class post :) as usual. I didn´t know that information about hares, very interesting. (Los cuervos chiflados son muy graciosos :D)
This is one of my favs of all of your pieces! Awesome job!...and, thanks for the info on the hares!...I always wondered about that! :)
Oh....poor Bunny Mae! I went out to pick blackberries by our ponds the other day. A hawk flew out of the bushes right in front of me with a poor little bunny in its claws. It was amazing ( and sad) to see such a thing up close!
Thanks everyone!
Joy, hares live in the bushes, I believe. The biologist´s lecture was about what animals form constant housing arrangements, like ants and wasps: It was interesting to think about that most animals are simply nomads, they don´t have a house they come and go to, they may build a nest for a season (or occupy someone elses, lol) - I guess that´s why we believe them to be so free ;) So basically what I wanted to say is that hares don´t belong to the rare house building species.
Txartcgal, wow, thanks!
Janet, you must live at a real special place, no neighbors, blackberries at the pond, hawks in the air: I realise I know very little about Alabama. It´s quite strange to see such a thing so close, I am sure. We all know that they do what they must do, the live´s circle and all, but witnessing it is not always so pleasant.
Poor rabbit! I actually had an experience similar to Janet's, but mine invloved some mourning dove chicks and a crows! They were actually raiding the nest the doves had made on top of our air conditioner:< I saw a big crow fly off with a baby bird in its mouth.
Poor bunny! Great illo Love your style & concept.
