STENCILED SALLY

Today a 100 years ago Samuel Beckett was born into Dublin, Ireland and he worked his life through to become one of avantgarde first and foremost authors. I have almost admired his sharp and wicked wit as much as his short and precise sentences. After reading his biography I felt strongly encouraged to never give up on believing in myself as an author. Beckett himself was discovered late in life. He had years of poverty, frustration and agony which furthered his style - and grace. It seems there was never the question of giving up. You may have heard his famous quote before: Ever try, ever fail, no matter. Try again, fail again, fail better. It´s not just a quote I love, it is also the essence of Beckett.

On a personal note: my graffiti group went well! Today we "bombed" a whole empty appartment. The girls did not stop spraying untill all the cans were gone. And what cool cans they were. There will be a short report of our workshop on this site later.

D°J°M - unbeatable in coolness :)

Hi Marjorie, yes, please become a regular again!!

Thanks Flossy, I wasn´t so sure in the beginning, but then we had a lot of fun together indeed. Actually I suppose they had to put up with me as their access to spray-cans, haha :) I was surprised how well they managed to cut their stencils. Compared to their big ones my wee Sally looks rather shabby.

I will summarize the workshop over the long Easter weekend and hopefully post it at the beginning of next week.

Stay tuned if you are interested :)

I agree with Andrea, you are just brilliant, it´s true. We always hope to you.
I like you because always you make me "think on" about so many things!
Thanks to approach to me to Samuel Beckett, great man. Now I´m wishing to read his biography.

I would like your graffiti class for me!

Yes, Joy, I am trying to raise a new girl guerilla generation! Maybe that is my feminist streak :) . As to mentoring, I have to say it is hard to get across the graffiti ethics when there are spraycans waiting to be used, but I hope I made my point.

Andrea, the photos are to come! They may be a bit boring for outsiders though. Thank you for your words! I hope the world knows that it needs me! :)

Lu, thank you for saying that! This is really the biggest compliment that I make you think about things. And sure, I´ll give you a notice before my next graffiti class - I´d like to see the guerilla girl group expand over Europe! ;)
