TATTOO

At times the Artist becomes very protective of her work.

As I learned from this blog, tattoo is not just a permanent skin adornment but also a drum signal calling soldiers to their quarters at night. I checked it on Wikipedia and found out, that the Edinburgh Festival annually holds one of the biggest Military Tattoos. If you skip the military part, this is one of the places I want to spend a whole month at. Can you imagine visiting one great art performance after another?

I was beginning to lay out the Edinburgh Castle for my Tattoo entry (it´s where the Tattoo takes place), when I noticed how unfitting the image became for this blog. I was very close to doodle over it, but a very adamantine voice demanded attention....

PS: We give the Artist some more attention by linking to her painting.

Funny, funny, funny! Your take on the military tattoo is charcteristically amusing and delightful while making a statement about tampering with art. I too would love to see that!

I was in the Edinburgh castle soon after to finalize the fringe festival. Qué pena!, I didn´t go there in time to see something so unique.

Your artistica imagination is brilliant and always interesting.

(me parto de risa con las gaitas-escarabajos que participan en el tatuaje) :D

I keep meaning to give some meaningful replies other than just a simple thank yous, but my time at the computer is limited at the moment, what a condition! One week of vacation means twice as much work the days after which means I am ripe for vacation again.

Lu, lucky you who at leat has been to Edinburgh! Did you see more castles around town?

Thanks everyone!

I do like those bagpipe animals. Never been to the Festival, but I really love the City. If you care to read, here's my brief art/travelogue http://elbowroom1.blogspot.com/2005/03/art-in-edinburgh.html - a year out of date now. Left the Castle well alone.

Yes! I saw lots of castels of Scotland, for example: The Stirling castle (in the beautiful city of Stirling), Dunnotar Castle (Stonhaven), the Macbeth´s Castles: Birnan Wood and Dunsinane Hill (near Perth), Urquhart castle (near Loch Ness), and the well-know Eilean Donan castle (in the western highlands of Scotland)it has appeared in the films as "Highlander", "Loch Ness", "The world is not Enough")
Scotland is a full land of castles and fantastics landscapes, you have to go! is wonderful!

scribblesk: Thanks!

Lu and Johnnynorms: I decided its a must go! There is also that famous Ecclesgreig House somewhere in St. Cyrus that interests me A LOT. I keep dreaming of owning a weird castle/house like that. If I don´t make it during life-time I hope I will be accepted there as a ghost.

Aynaku, ah, so you survived Yakuza in Tokyo. I can see another great story-illustration come up :)
